I currently have 6 cameras and 1 viewer. Best of all, I spent zero dollars on the camera devices! Some of them are just cheap phones or tablets, but they get the job done.

Five of them are old Android phones and tablets we used before upgrading, so they were just sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

The sixth one was given to me by a friend. He dropped his S5 and the screen cracked, so he was going to throw it into the trash. For use as an Alfred camera, a cracked screen isn’t a problem as long as the device still works. So, the old adage holds true: one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

Viewer: Nexus 5X
Cameras:
1. LG Optimus L90
2. Samsung Galaxy S3
3. Toshiba Thrive
4. Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime
5. DigiLand DL718M
6. Samsung Galaxy S5

I just wanted to take a minute and say how awesome I think it is that you actually take the time out of your own hectic lIves to respond and reach out to your customers, always going above and beyond ! In the past, I have thought about switching to a different WiFi cam app, simply because I opened my mouth about my best friend Alfred to a family member who then shared my best kept secret with EVERYONE. but ultimately, I have decided that it is not just an incredibly useful app, but also a product of appreciation by developers who truly care about people. Thank you Alfred team for restoring my faith in humanity (if only just for a short while…).:heart::heart:

Thank you so much for the warmth and encouragement. Today is a day when I need it the most!

I’m using a Samsung S6 Edge as my viewer and a Samsung Avant as the camera, but the camera keeps turning off and I’m getting the 7007 message.
I just started yesterday and the camera, which is in the next room from the viewer phone has stopped twice. Help, please.

Hi @seapier1,

Thank you so much for reaching out!

We took a look at the situation and we think it might be caused by two things.

First of all, you use T-Mobile. Please follow the tutorial here to change your Viewer’s mobile data settings:

Second of all, you tend to press the power key after setting your Camera device up. Please don’t! You can read more about it here:

Would you please keep me posted if your problem has been solved? If not, I’d like to look into it further and help Alfred work for you!

I am using note7 (Until it explodes) a galaxy s7sctive and galaxy tab for viewers. Hey let’s get zoom going that will be awesome guys!!!

My cameras are.
Samsung J3 (broken screen)
Droid turbo2 ( black screen)
Alcatel OneTouch Pixi Eclipse
3 Alcatel onetouch Pixi Avion
Galaxy S i9000 (Blackscreen)
2 Galaxy core prime (black screen)
I use a 5n1 mhl hub to mirror broken and black screens on the tv and control with a mouse to enable settings I need and get Alfred from play store the cameras work awesome I find a lot of phones my friends don’t want and make them work, I purchased the cheap Alcatel phones new from $20 and $30 being most I paid. I’m having an issue with one of the Alcatel pixi avions dropping wifi and not staying signed in but others work great! I have some good places for the phones and some are hidden cameras I’ve spent time when bored making them fit inside objects around the house that don’t just stick out like a sore thumb and no one has ever noticed them until I show them where they are. I will upload some photos later. Thank you Alfred you ROCK Brother!!! Keep the updates coming!!

Hey @farbeyonddriven1981,

Thank you so much for sharing! It looks like you are a devoted Alfred fan!

I am pushing for the zoom feature really hard. Fingers crossed the head engineer will get it done ASAP!

Would you mind sharing some photos of your setups with us? They sound amazing, and I’m sure other Superheroes would like to see them, too!

Wow, I had no idea that this is a community, I appreciate Alfred so much, I am very excited to become a part of the family, learn and share.

#91

How do you think the Turbo 2 does??

#92

I have s7 edge and my camera quality is great. Through the alfred app, quality is lacking. The app distorts it a lot.

Hi @tabicakes81,

Thank you so much for your feedback!

Alfred’s resolution depends on a variety of factors. Device model is just one of them. To deliver live feed with as little delay as possible, the video has to be compressed, encoded, and decoded. Think about the voice chat apps you have tried: the video resolution is also much lower than what the Camera is capable of when you are snapping a photo.

You can increase clarity by increasing ambient light, and connection speed. Alternatively, try Alfred Premium, which offers HD viewing/recording, ad removal, 30-day storage, and Zoom! Find out more here:

I have used Alfred as a baby monitor for a while now. Just recently I noticed some issues; for example several times I looked for recorded events I knew of that should have been recorded like the baby crawling and it only recorded part of the event. Up to 10 min will be missing even though the baby was within view and moving vigorously. Disappointing because I wanted to save the moment. Yesterday however it failed to capture the baby getting hurt. It shows the baby laying down with a bottle and me walking out of the room. And the next clip shows the baby about 2 feet from where she started, screaming and me running to pick her up. And it says it never lost connection so it should have recorded her moving
