It might be very useful to have low light detection be set on and off a daily or weekly routine. at 6am it should probably turn off in a lot of cases, and it should turn on at 6pm or 10pm or whatever the user chooses. Something like this would be immediately useful to me, I’m guessing for others also.

Have you tried Alfred’s Auto Low-Light Filter? Once that option is enabled, Alfred will automatically record in Low-Light mode when there isn’t enough ambient light.

I have tried it and I use it frequently, but with some cameras it’s not really set optimally so it’s on when it should be off and vice versa. For my situation, it would be simpler to have it turn on at night and turn off during the day. The autodetection isn’t perfect, that’s why I had this thought.
