Peppermint oil is particularly well-regarded as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/healthy-home-guide\/peppermint-oil-spiders#other-natural-repellents\">repellent of spiders<\/a>, which can cause significant problems when they decide to house themselves right on top of your security camera.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corners are useful vantage points for surveillance, but they also seem to be prime real estate in the arachnid world. Avoid having to destroy spider homes by making a mixture of several drops of peppermint oil, water, and a little dish soap. The bugs will die slowly as the bleach is absorbed through their exoskeleton. It\u2019s convenient and cost effective. Just be careful to avoid direct contact with the security camera, as the bleach could damage the exterior color and interior components. Those with known respiratory problems might want to avoid this method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u2018I use a mixture of bleach and water that I squirt on a rag and rub around where the camera mount meets the house. If you look closely at your camera, you might notice dim red lights inside or near the lens area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are infrared bulbs, which can attract insects in the dark (we\u2019re looking at you, moths). If your camera\u2019s settings have the option, try turning off the camera\u2019s infrared and instead setting up an IR illuminator for night time use. Some also happen to be quite attractive in both indoor and outdoor spaces!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-link-color wp-elements-98988e145e824529ee86588a27f38787\">There\u2019s nearly 700 species in existence. Here\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/kids.nationalgeographic.com\/awesome-8\/article\/carnivorous-plants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eight of them<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Venus fly traps are among the smallest of carnivorous plants, so you might want to choose a larger one for outside.
